After a public hearing in downtown Los Angeles, I took a quick trip to check up on the progress of the Silverlake houses. The first house, sold after the foundation was poured, is completed and occupied. It was interesting to see from the outside how another team of architect and homeowner finished what we started. The other two are being completed by the developer. House two is receiving finishes, and house three is wrapping up framing. Again we are seeing how other people in the construction process put their stamp on the projects, from in-field adjustments, edits and deletions, to color and material choices. The details may have changed, but the space, natural light and views remain.
Ultimately there will be three distinct homes with three distinct personalities and one outrageous view.
